A great question came my way recently:

Hi Jen, I’m searching for a natural/organic SPF face day lotion. Is the Alison Raffaele primer moisturizing enough for a daytime use?  I don’t have dry skin; I’m oily T zone, acne prone on cheeks, and can have sun spots pop up if I’m not extra-over-zealous with my SPF in summer.

Also, I’m trying a new natural/organic skin care regimen by Sophyto and they recommended a more natural SPF lotion to go with. So here I am.

Recommend something for me MBB! )

Gotcha Jami.  You need an SPF day lotion that blocks the suns rays without causing your skin to shine and makeup to slide off.  You would also prefer an organic sunscreen lotion.

I would recommend Alison Raffaele’s Acne Response Primer with SPF 15 ($44) for oily/acne prone skin.  It adds bit of moisture, but not overly so, and makes your makeup glide on.   A little bit goes a long way, you will also like that this product contains:

  • Frutta di Vita antioxidant complex to shelter skin from damaging free radicals
  • Dermatologist Tested and Approved
  • Makeup Artist Developed
  • Free of parabens, oil, talc, gluten and fragrance
  • Folding carton is made from 80% post-consumer, Forest Stewardship Council approved material
  • Clear overcap is made from PETA plastic and can be recycled
  • Bottle is made from polypropylene plastic and can be recycled

Some other products I would recommend are:  Smashbox’s Photo Finish Foundation Primer Spa 15 With Dermaxyl™ Complex  and Juice Beauty’s Green Apple Moisturizer SPF 15.   Juice Beauty’s moisturizer is very light and moisturizing, but sometimes the pump mechanism gives me grief.

Another one of my favorite SPF’s for oily skin would have to be Cosmedicine’s Medi-Matte Face Tint & Oil Control Lotion SPF 20 ($42).  It is a tinted treatment that controls oil, hydrates, and provides broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection and buildable coverage.  It is amazing!  Feels and looks so natural and works great on your oily zones, without looking chalky or accentuating your pores.  I find myself constantly reaching to my Medi-Matte.  HIGHLY Recommended!!!

I would love to hear of any other of your favorite SPF products for oily skin.  Comment away!
